As some of you might have noticed, I've left the blog empty for a little while. Sometimes you have to sit back in life, and allow things to happen (or not) and then pull up your britches and move onward.
Historically, this is the time of year that my soul is preparing me for the worst time of year for me: Cold weather, holiday's, lost memories and sadness. I know, buzz kill! But it's the truth, and this year my psyche didn't do any prep and I have sunk into the nastiness way sooner than I ever have. But every tipping point has it's breaking point...or whatever it is that they say. And I'm going to get out of this with a smile on my face and gratitude seeping through my veins.
Maybe you're at a point like that in your life? Like you want to run away or drown in your sorrows? Yep, been there, done that and the key word there is done. I am so done with being this way. And today I mark the change.
For the 2nd time in just about a year, I am embarking on a Gratitude Journey. Last year around this time I did it, but I never followed through. Maybe because I wasn't ready...maybe because I said I wasn't ready and even though I tried, the Universe heard me as "Not now". But I'm getting ahead of myself. For those of you unfamiliar with
Rhonda Byrne, the least I can say is that she's changed a lot of people's lives. She's written several books (and a movie) about that all powerful G-word, Gratitude. She also wrote a 28-day self-help (for lack of better description) book to help shape your mind into a mind of thankfulness and gratitude.
I'm writing today to encourage those of you who might be ready to a mark a change in your life, to start this same journey, as different as it will be for you, as for me. If you're interested in purchasing the book to read what she is teaching each day, you can do that
here, via her website. (I'm sure you can also find this book in your local bookstore or on Amazon.)
She asks that we write down (yes, you can do it on your iPad) what we want in life. Don't think about how and the possible impossibility of attaining what you want, but to just write it down. Big or small. Yes, I'm telling you to be selfish - what fun is wanting something if there's no excitement to it?! DREAM BIG! To really get your mind thinking about all the wonderful things you can begin asking for, she breaks it down into categories so you can think about all the things in your life. They include:
- Health + Body
- Career + Work
- Money
- Relationships
- Personal Desires
- Material Things
Here are a few of my Life Wants from all of the categories listed above:
- To remain healthy
- To be the number one sales agent in my area
- To be able to provide 100% for my family
- To experience constant happiness with all of my relationships
- Meet Chef Gordan Ramsay (!!!!)
- Get a new car
These were just a few from my vast and growing list of Life Wants. There are no right or wrong answers. These are all what I am going to receive or experience. And you can do the same! Are you ready to start your Gratitude Journey?
THANK YOU for letting me share a little bit of my journey with you! When you're feeling up to it and would like to share some of your experiences on your journey, I'd love to hear them!
